
Haley Burgdorf of Penn State Named Big Ten Freshman of the Week
Haley Burgdorf, an outside hitter for Penn State women's volleyball, received the title of Big Ten Freshman of the Week on Monday.
This accolade follows her standout contributions in matches where Penn State achieved victories over DePaul, No. 4 Stanford, and Ohio. In the match against Stanford, Burgdorf recorded career highs with a hitting percentage of .450, 10 kills, nine digs, and two aces.
Throughout the week, she maintained an overall hitting percentage of .463, averaging 2.67 kills and 1.67 digs per set. Burgdorf is the first player from Penn State women's volleyball to earn this recognition since Caroline Jurevicius in 2024. The team is set to host Villanova on Tuesday, September 15, at 7 p.m.
