Hanshin Tigers to Post Teruaki Sato for MLB Teams
The Hanshin Tigers have officially announced that Teruaki Sato will be posted for Major League teams during the upcoming offseason. This decision follows months of speculation regarding his availability, with interest from at least five MLB clubs.
Sato, who is set to turn 28 in March, has excelled in Nippon Professional Baseball, winning the Central League MVP award and achieving a triple crown in the 2026 season. He recorded 39 home runs and 106 RBIs, boasting a .306/.383/.609 batting line over 614 plate appearances.
Although Sato's offensive capabilities are notable, concerns exist regarding his defensive skills and how he might adapt to Major League Baseball. He will officially be posted after the conclusion of the NPB season, with a 45-day window to sign with an MLB team. If he does not secure a contract before the impending lockout on December 1, he may return to the Tigers for the 2027 season.
