Harriet Dart Secures First Grand Slam Win in 19 Months at US Open
Harriet Dart has advanced to the second round of the US Open after defeating Peyton Stearns in a comeback victory. This win marks Dart's first Grand Slam singles victory in 19 months.
Ranked 131st in the world, Dart had not won a main-draw singles match at a major since the 2025 Australian Open. She faced challenges in qualifying for several Grand Slams and had early exits at Wimbledon.
In her match against Stearns, Dart initially trailed by a set and a break but rallied to win 3-6, 6-3, 6-2. She will next compete against 25th seed Marie Bouzkova. Dart celebrated her victory with her team, which includes former Wimbledon champion Marion Bartoli, who has been coaching her since the French Open.
