Harry Kane Becomes First English Player to Win Germany's Footballer of the Year Award
Harry Kane, the striker for Bayern Munich and the England national team, has achieved a historic milestone by becoming the first English player to win Germany's Footballer of the Year award. The accolade was presented to him at the Allianz Arena prior to Bayern Munich's Bundesliga season opener.
Kane received the award after being voted by members of the Association of German Sports Journalists, securing 272 out of 659 votes. He surpassed teammate Michael Olise, who garnered 203 votes, and succeeded Florian Wirtz, the previous year's winner. This recognition highlights Kane's remarkable performance during the 2025-26 season, in which he scored 36 goals in the Bundesliga.
In addition to this honor, Kane was recently awarded the European Golden Shoe for being the top scorer in Europe. He also celebrated a team victory with Bayern Munich, who won the 2026 Franz Beckenbauer Supercup against Borussia Dortmund.
