Harry Kane Wins Ballon d'Or by Narrow Margin Over Kylian Mbappe
Harry Kane has won the men's Ballon d'Or, edging out Kylian Mbappe by just 28 points, one of the narrowest margins ever recorded for the award. The voting results revealed that Kane received 1,055 points, while Mbappe garnered 1,027 points.
This victory makes Kane the first English player to win the Ballon d'Or since Michael Owen in 2001. Mbappe's second-place finish is his best result to date, surpassing Spain's Lamine Yamal, who finished third with 881 points. The closest previous margin was in 2019 when Lionel Messi defeated Virgil van Dijk by seven points.
Kane's achievement follows a remarkable season in which he scored 73 goals in 65 matches, contributing to Bayern Munich's league and cup double and leading England to a third-place finish in the World Cup. The award is determined by votes from 100 journalists using a weighted points system.
