Harry Kane Wins Ballon d'Or, First Englishman in 25 Years
Harry Kane has been named the winner of the Ballon d'Or, marking the first time an English player has received the award in 25 years. The announcement was made during a ceremony held in London.
In the 2025-26 season, Kane scored an impressive total of 73 goals for Bayern Munich and the England national team, contributing to his club's second Bundesliga title. He is the fifth English player to win the award, following Michael Owen, Stanley Matthews, Bobby Charlton, and Kevin Keegan.
Kane's performance included 61 goals in club matches, with 36 in the Bundesliga, 14 in the Champions League, and 10 in the German Cup. He also netted 12 goals for England, six of which were scored during the World Cup. His achievements have placed him among the top scorers in football history, with only Lionel Messi surpassing his single-season goal tally from Europe's top leagues.
