Harsh Singh Expresses Disappointment Over Asian Games Exclusion

Harsh Singh, a judoka from India, has voiced his disappointment after being excluded from the Indian judo team for the upcoming Asian Games 2026 in Aichi-Nagoya. The athlete, who recently made history by winning a gold medal in the men's 60kg category at the Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow, had hoped his recent success would secure him a spot on the team.

Despite his achievements, Singh did not meet the selection criteria set by the Sports Authority of India, which included being ranked among the top six in Asia or achieving a top-six finish in international competitions. He acknowledged that he was informed by the federation that his name was submitted among 13 judokas considered for selection, but ultimately, he did not qualify.

Singh's journey has been marked by challenges, including a tough draw at the Asian Championships where he faced Olympic silver medallist Yang Yung-wei, resulting in an early exit. Now, he is shifting his focus to the Lausanne Grand Slam, expressing his determination to move past this setback.
