Hayden Wilde Claims First 70.3 World Championship Title in Nice

Hayden Wilde from New Zealand won the IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship in Nice, France, achieving his first world title with a time of 3:50:51. The race took place on Sunday, two years after Wilde narrowly missed out on a title in his home country.

Wilde started strong, exiting the water with a leading group and maintaining his position during the bike segment. Despite a fierce challenge from Norway's Kristian Blummenfelt, who finished second with a half-marathon time of 1:05:12, Wilde held on to secure the victory. Belgium's Jelle Geens completed the podium in third place.

The race began with a competitive swim in the Mediterranean Sea, where American Seth Rider led the pack. Transitioning to the bike, Wilde was initially behind but made significant gains during the ride, ultimately taking the lead during the descent. As the run progressed, Wilde managed to fend off Blummenfelt's late charge, crossing the finish line first.
