Hendrick Motorsports to Reintroduce Neon Yellow Car Numbers in 2027
Hendrick Motorsports, the most successful team in NASCAR history, will bring back its iconic neon yellow car numbers starting in 2027. This color scheme is associated with the team's dominant era, during which it secured numerous wins and championships.
Notable drivers like Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon achieved significant success while racing with neon yellow numbers, including Johnson's five consecutive titles from 2006 to 2010 and Gordon's four Cup championships. The neon yellow was also present during Chase Elliott's 2020 Cup win.
Although the neon yellow numbers were phased out in recent years, they will be reinstated for all Hendrick teams, including those of Kyle Larson, Elliott, William Byron, and Alex Bowman, as well as for Corey Day in the NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts Series. Hendrick Motorsports, founded in 1984, holds records for 323 Cup race wins and 15 Cup Series championships.
