Highlights and Lowlights from WWE SmackDown on October 9, 2026

The October 9, 2026 episode of WWE SmackDown served as the final show before the Money in the Bank event, showcasing a variety of matches and storylines. Notably, a new Women's Tag Team Champion was crowned during the episode, although the circumstances surrounding the victory raised questions.

A match was set between GUNTHER and Danhausen, stemming from their previous interactions. However, the anticipated match never occurred as Danhausen hesitated, leading to a segment where GUNTHER dominated him instead. This left fans feeling that the potential for an engaging contest was squandered.

In a contrasting segment, CM Punk and Kevin Owens engaged in a compelling promo atop ladders, effectively building anticipation for their upcoming match. Meanwhile, Tatum Paxley unexpectedly won a title alongside Alexa Bliss after Charlotte Flair was sidelined, leaving some fans puzzled about the storyline direction. The episode concluded with a main event featuring Bron Breakker and Trick Williams, which ended in disqualification due to interference, further complicating the narrative as the show wrapped up without a clear resolution.
