Highlights of the UTMB World Series Finals in Chamonix

The UTMB World Series Finals is taking place this week in Chamonix, France, with more than 10,000 athletes participating in eight races. The event will feature three championship races: the 50-kilometer OCC, the 100-kilometer CCC, and the iconic 100-mile UTMB.

Notable absences include four-time champion Kilian Jornet, who is sidelined due to a knee issue requiring surgery, and top-ranked Jim Walmsley, who has withdrawn due to health concerns. Vincent Bouillard, the 2024 UTMB champion, is among the top competitors, alongside last year's runner-up Ben Dhiman and other notable runners like Jon Albon and Josh Wade.

In the women's category, defending champion Ruth Croft will not compete, setting the stage for a potential showdown between Courtney Dauwalter and Rachel Entrekin. Additionally, UTMB has announced an increase in anti-doping measures, including random testing for non-elite athletes, following recent doping controversies in the sport.

The marquee races will commence on August 27th, starting with the OCC at 08:15 AM local time, followed by the CCC at 09:00 AM, and concluding with the UTMB at 5:45 PM.
