Historic Volleyball Matches at Wrigley Field: Kentucky Triumphs, Nebraska-Missouri Suspended
Wrigley Field, traditionally a baseball venue, hosted its inaugural volleyball matches on Sunday as part of the Big Ten/SEC Volleyball Challenge. No. 3 Kentucky faced No. 13 Penn State, while Nebraska was scheduled to play Missouri in a doubleheader.
Kentucky secured a victory against Penn State, winning the first set 25-23 and the second set 25-21, with Brooklyn DeLeye contributing significantly with 21 kills. Penn State managed to win the third set 25-23, but Kentucky dominated the fourth set 25-15 to clinch the match.
The match between Nebraska and Missouri was interrupted due to a slippery court surface, leading to a suspension before it could progress beyond the first set. Officials announced that rescheduling the match would not be feasible, and further decisions regarding its continuation would be communicated later.
