Historic Volleyball Matches Held at Wrigley Field
Wrigley Field in Chicago, known primarily as the home of the Chicago Cubs, recently hosted its inaugural volleyball matches as part of the Big Ten/SEC Volleyball Challenge Week. The event featured No. 3 Kentucky facing No. 13 Penn State, followed by No. 1 Nebraska competing against Missouri.
The matches were broadcast in prime time on FOX, with a crowd of 43,067 attending, marking the second-largest attendance in the venue's history. Kentucky's Brooklyn DeLeye led her team to a 3-1 victory over Penn State, contributing 21 kills.
During the Nebraska-Mizzou match, condensation on the court led to a delay for player safety. The crowd engaged in sing-alongs during the break, and Nebraska's Bergen Reilly expressed gratitude to the fans. The night concluded with an impromptu performance by Nebraska's Andi Jackson, who led a sing-along of Kelly Clarkson's song, creating a memorable atmosphere.
