Hodgkinson, the Olympic champion and two-time European titleholder, won her heat with a time of 1:57.28, the fastest across all heats. Werro, who previously defeated Hodgkinson earlier this season, finished her race in 1:57.83, while Broeders-Bol crossed the line first in 1:59.96.
