Honda Acknowledges F1 Challenges Discovered in January

Honda's trackside manager, Shintaro Orihara, stated that the company recognized significant performance and reliability issues during the Barcelona shakedown ahead of the 2026 Formula 1 season.

Initially, Honda believed its position was acceptable at the end of the previous year, but by January, it became clear that the performance fluctuated and reliability was lacking. This realization coincided with the challenges faced by Aston Martin, who struggled to compete effectively, particularly against newcomer Cadillac.

Honda's current F1 project differs greatly from its successful past with Red Bull, compounded by the complexities of new regulations. The company is focusing on improvements, particularly with an upcoming upgrade aimed at enhancing the internal combustion engine, which was tested at the Hungaroring.
