Honda Awaiting FIA Proposal Before Committing to V8 Engine Discussions

Honda has expressed its willingness to engage in discussions regarding the next engine formula for Formula 1, emphasizing the importance of maintaining technological relevance and sustainability in the championship.

However, the company is not prepared to support the growing V8 campaign until it receives a formal proposal from the FIA. Currently, discussions among the FIA, Formula 1, and manufacturers are focused on a future engine that would utilize sustainable fuel, feature a larger internal-combustion component, and reduce electrical power.

Honda Racing Corporation president Koji Watanabe noted that no official plan has been presented to them yet. While Honda is open to exploring how future engines can align with its objectives, it has not committed to a specific cylinder configuration. The V8 proposal remains a topic of discussion rather than a finalized regulation, and Honda seeks more concrete details before making any commitments.
