Honda Reveals Details on Upcoming Engine for Zandvoort

Honda's chief engineer, Shintaro Orihara, has provided insights into a new engine that will be introduced at Zandvoort, following a significant car upgrade in Hungary aimed at enhancing Aston Martin's performance.

The new engine addresses previous issues, including a lack of power and reliability problems caused by vibrations. Orihara acknowledged that the engine's internal combustion engine (ICE) has been a major weakness, emphasizing the need for improved performance to close the gap with competitors.

Key modifications include changes to the pre-chamber and piston shape to enhance combustion speed, as well as adjustments to the lubrication system to reduce friction. While progress has been made in optimizing driveability, further development will be necessary with the introduction of the new engine specifications. Orihara expressed confidence in the achievements of the team at Honda's HRC Sakura factory and is eager to see the engine's performance in the upcoming race.
