Hornets Release Pat Connaughton Ahead of Season
The Charlotte Hornets have announced the release of veteran wing Pat Connaughton as they finalize their roster for the upcoming NBA season.
Connaughton, whose contract was non-guaranteed, had been seen as a likely candidate for waiving due to his status as the only player on a standard contract without guaranteed salary. This decision allows the Hornets to reach the 15-man roster limit for the regular season.
Originally drafted 41st overall in 2015, Connaughton played three seasons with the Portland Trail Blazers before joining the Milwaukee Bucks in 2018. He was part of the Bucks team that won the championship in 2021. In his time with the Hornets, Connaughton averaged 7.1 minutes per game over 42 appearances, contributing as a locker room leader despite limited playing time. He had recently averaged 1.0 point, 1.5 rebounds, and 2.0 assists in two preseason games.
