Hornets Secure Brandon Miller with $209 Million Contract Extension
The Charlotte Hornets have finalized a five-year, $209 million rookie-scale contract extension for forward Brandon Miller, as reported by ESPN's Shams Charania on Monday.
Last season, Miller, 23, averaged 20.2 points, 3.3 assists, 4.9 rebounds, and 1.0 steals across 65 games. His performance, alongside contributions from LaMelo Ball and rookie Kon Knueppel, helped the Hornets achieve a 44-38 record, marking their first season above .500 since 2021-22.
Despite this success, the Hornets were eliminated in the play-in tournament and traded Ball to the Minnesota Timberwolves during the off-season, increasing expectations for Miller in the upcoming season. Selected second overall in the 2023 draft, Miller finished third in the Rookie of the Year voting, trailing Victor Wembanyama and Chet Holmgren. The Hornets are set to begin their season against the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday night.
