Hyderabad Hosts Punjab in Key Ranji Trophy Clash

Hyderabad is set to host Punjab in a significant Ranji Trophy Elite Group-B match at Gymkhana, starting Monday. The clash comes as both teams vie for top position, even with the absence of Mohammed Siraj and Shubman Gill, who have joined India's tour of New Zealand.

Hyderabad, having secured victories against Tripura and Andhra, has brought in Mudassar Hussain to replace Siraj. Punjab, fresh off a win against Chhattisgarh, has made several changes, including the addition of Anshul Chaudhary, Sukhdeep Singh Bajwa, and Raghu Sharma, while Gill and Gurnoor Brar have been left out.

The pitch is expected to favor spin bowlers, a challenge that Punjab's head coach Amit Uniyal welcomes. He emphasized the importance of a result-oriented game. Hyderabad's Tanay Thyagarajann stands out with impressive bowling statistics, while Punjab's batting lineup, featuring K. Himateja, aims to capitalize on Hyderabad's defensive weaknesses. Both teams are eager for points, with Hyderabad seeking to solidify its lead and Punjab aiming to break a three-season slump.
