Ian Garry Accuses Islam Makhachev of Wearing Elevated Shoes at UFC 330 Face-Off
Ian Garry has accused Islam Makhachev of wearing elevated shoes during their face-off at UFC 330, which is scheduled for Saturday in Philadelphia. Garry, who stands at 6'3", noted that Makhachev, the 5'10" champion, seemed to be closer in height than their official measurements indicate.
During a media day, Garry alleged that Makhachev was wearing high heels, suggesting that the champion's footwear was designed to reduce the apparent height difference. Makhachev denied these claims, stating that he was wearing standard shoes and mentioned that his official height might need to be updated, as he believes he has grown since his UFC debut.
In addition to the height difference, Garry also has a four-inch reach advantage, measuring 74" compared to Makhachev's 70". The two fighters are expected to clarify their height differences during the ceremonial weigh-in on Friday, where they will wear UFC-issued footwear.
