ICC Revokes Demerit Point for Gaddafi Stadium Pitch
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has decided to revoke the demerit point previously assigned to the pitch at Lahore's Gaddafi Stadium after the third ODI between Pakistan and Australia held in June.
This decision was made after the Pakistan Cricket Board and Cricket Canada filed appeals regarding the demerit points given for matches played that month. The ICC Appeals Panel reviewed video footage, match referee reports, and comments from team captains before overturning the initial ruling.
The panel concluded that the pitch did not exhibit excessive unevenness or spin, which led to the withdrawal of the demerit point. The pitch used on June 8 was deemed satisfactory, aligning with the expected standards. Pakistan won the three-match ODI series against Australia 2-1, with spinners from both teams significantly influencing the matches.
