Iga Swiatek Claims First Title of 2026 at National Bank Open
In Toronto, Iga Swiatek won her first WTA tournament title of 2026 by defeating Elena Rybakina with a score of 6-2, 6-3 at the National Bank Open presented by Rogers.
Swiatek, who is ranked No. 8 in the world, showcased a strong performance, marking her return to form after a challenging start to the season. This victory was significant as it was her first final appearance of the year, and she had not won a tournament since the Cincinnati Open in 2025.
The match featured Swiatek's dominance, as she capitalized on Rybakina's unforced errors, particularly in the first set. Swiatek's victory also made her the only player to reach a WTA Tour 1000 final for six consecutive seasons. For her win, Swiatek earned $1.085 million, while Rybakina received $565,920 as the runner-up.
