India Achieves Historic Success on Final Day of Commonwealth Games 2026
On the final day of the Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow, India celebrated a historic achievement, finishing with a total of 39 medals, comprising 13 gold, 17 silver, and 9 bronze. The day was marked by outstanding performances across various sports, particularly in boxing, judo, and para athletics.
The boxing team delivered a record-breaking performance, winning seven gold and three silver medals, which positioned India at the top of the boxing medal table. Notable gold medalists included Jaismine Lamboria, Preeti Pawar, and Priya Ghanghas among others. In judo, Harsh Singh and Asmita Dey made history as the first Indian Commonwealth judo champions, contributing to a total of four medals in the sport.
India's para athletes also excelled, with Soman Rana winning gold in the men's F57 shot put, leading to a total of seven medals for the para contingent, matching the country's previous combined total from all Commonwealth Games editions. The athletics events saw Gulveer Singh making history by becoming the first Indian to win a medal in the men's 5000m, further enhancing India's medal tally on this remarkable day.
