India Achieves Six Medals on Day 9 of CWG 2026
India experienced a remarkable day at the 2026 Commonwealth Games, winning six medals on August 1, including historic golds in judo and a flawless performance in boxing.
The day began with Asmita Dey and Harsh Singh achieving gold medals in judo, marking significant milestones for Indian athletes. Dey triumphed in the women's 48kg event, while Singh became the first Indian male judoka to win gold in the men's 60kg final.
In athletics, Tejaswin Shankar earned a bronze medal in the decathlon, and Neeraj Chopra and Yash Vir Singh secured silver and bronze, respectively, in the men's javelin final. Additionally, all ten Indian boxers reached the finals, ensuring at least silver medals for each. With this success, India's overall medal tally rose to 23, comprising five gold, 12 silver, and six bronze, as the Games progressed.
