India Concludes World Athletics U20 Championships with Three Medals
India's participation in the World Athletics U20 Championships in Oregon, USA, concluded with a total of three medals, including two silver and one bronze. High jumper Pooja Singh finished seventh in the women's final, clearing only 1.84m, which was below her national senior record of 1.93m set earlier this year.
The medal tally began with Ashish Yadav earning silver in the men's javelin throw, followed by Basant Kumar Meghwal, who also secured silver in the men's high jump. Shahnavaz Khan contributed a bronze in the men's long jump. The women's 4x400m relay team finished ninth in their final.
This performance matches India's medal count from the previous two editions of the championships, highlighting a consistent improvement in the country's junior athletics. Historically, India had won only four medals from 2002 to 2018, but has shown a stronger presence in recent years.
