India Develops Comprehensive Workload Management Plan for Bowlers
India's cricket team is implementing a thorough workload management plan for its bowlers during the upcoming tour of New Zealand, as confirmed by bowling coach Morne Morkel. This strategy includes retaining a dedicated group of bowlers as backups for the two-match Test series scheduled to begin on November 19, following a series of T20 and ODI matches.
The management's approach aims to address the demands of a busy schedule that features five T20Is, five ODIs, and two Tests. Morkel noted that the team is considering left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh for a potential red-ball debut, highlighting his ability to adapt to various conditions. The plan was developed months in advance and includes rotating bowlers during the one-day internationals to ensure they are adequately prepared for the Tests without risking fatigue.
Morkel emphasized that every bowler is aware of their expected workload and that preparations are in place to ensure all players, including Jasprit Bumrah, are ready for the first Test. The strategy reflects a long-term vision for managing player workloads effectively.
