India Dominates Men's High Jump T63 at Asian Para Games 2026
At the Asian Para Games 2026 held in Nagoya, Japan, India secured a clean sweep in the men's high jump T63 final on Thursday. Shailesh Kumar clinched the gold medal, followed by Varun Bhati taking silver and Rahul Saroha winning bronze.
Shailesh set a new Asian Para Games record by clearing a height of 1.89 meters, surpassing the previous record of 1.80 meters established by Sharad Kumar in 2014. The competition intensified as Shailesh and Varun vied closely until the bar was raised to 1.84 meters, after which Shailesh cleared 1.87 meters and then 1.89 meters to secure his victory.
Varun achieved a season's best jump of 1.84 meters for his silver medal, while Rahul completed the podium with a jump of 1.81 meters. This victory marks India's second consecutive podium sweep in this event, having achieved the same at the 2022 Asian Para Games.
