India Plans Backup Bowlers for Upcoming Test Series Against New Zealand
India is preparing for a two-match Test series against New Zealand next month by establishing a separate group of bowlers as backups. This decision was announced by bowling coach Morne Morkel, who emphasized the importance of managing the players' workload during a demanding tour that includes five T20Is, five ODIs, and two Tests.
The Test series is set to commence on November 19, shortly after the conclusion of the ODI series. Morkel noted that the final bowling combination will be determined closer to the series, taking into account the conditions in New Zealand at that time. He mentioned that the team has a solid plan in place for rotation to ensure all bowlers, including Jasprit Bumrah, are prepared for the matches.
In preparation, some players have already participated in the India A side to enhance their readiness for red-ball cricket. Morkel stated that the team aims to rotate bowlers during the ODIs to provide them with necessary match practice leading up to the Tests. He expressed confidence in the bowlers' understanding of their roles and the overall strategy in place.
