
India Secures AFC U20 Asian Cup Spot with 3-0 Victory Over Bangladesh
India has qualified for the AFC U20 Asian Cup main tournament for the first time in two decades following a decisive 3-0 victory against Bangladesh in their final qualifying match. This match took place on Sunday, marking a significant achievement for Indian football.
The win was India's second in three matches, bringing their total points to six. They awaited the outcome of the Syria versus Uzbekistan match to confirm their qualification. With Syria's loss to Uzbekistan, India secured second place in Group B, qualifying as one of the seven best runners-up from eight groups. The last time India participated in the main tournament was in 2006.
In the match, Danny Meitei Laishram opened the scoring in the 25th minute, followed by Vishal Yadav's acrobatic goal in the 60th minute. Md Arbash sealed the victory with a powerful strike in the 79th minute. The main tournament is scheduled to take place in China from March 24 to April 10, 2027.
