India Secures Nine-Wicket Victory Over Zimbabwe in First ODI
In the first One Day International (ODI) match of the series held in Vadodara, India triumphed over Zimbabwe by nine wickets. Pratika Rawal achieved her third ODI century, scoring an unbeaten 100 runs, while Shree Charani delivered a standout bowling performance with figures of 4/23.
Zimbabwe was bowled out for 197 runs, with Beloved Biza being the top scorer at 62 runs. Charani, alongside Kranti Gaud, who took 3 wickets for 42 runs, effectively restricted the Zimbabwean batting lineup. India chased down the target, reaching 200 runs for the loss of just one wicket in 27.1 overs.
Rawal's innings included 15 boundaries, and she maintained a strike rate exceeding 100. Her opening partner, Mandhana, contributed 32 runs before being dismissed, while Shafali, batting at number three, finished with 64 runs off 33 balls. Despite several fielding errors, India's bowling unit successfully prevented Zimbabwe from forming significant partnerships.
