India Women's Hockey Team Prepares for Asian Games After World Cup Finish

The Indian women's hockey team is back in training at the SAI South Centre in Bengaluru, just a week after finishing fifth at the FIH World Cup in Belgium. They are now preparing for the Asian Games, which will commence in Japan on September 19.

Chief coach Sjoerd Marijne emphasized the need for the team to build on their World Cup performance, noting that while they should be proud, they must aim for even better results at the Asian Games. Striker Lalremsiami highlighted the intensity of their training, mentioning that the players have not had time for indulgences since returning.

India previously secured a bronze medal at the last Asian Games and had to qualify for the Paris Olympics. With an Olympic berth for the 2028 Los Angeles Games at stake, the team is focused on winning gold, as Marijne stated that they need to perform well in every match to achieve their ultimate goal.
