Indian Long Jumpers Prepare for Asian Games at WA Silver Meet

Indian long jumpers Murali Sreeshankar and Ancy Sojan regard the World Athletics Continental Tour Silver meet, scheduled for August 22, 2026, at Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar, as an important preparatory event for the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games.

During a press conference, Sreeshankar highlighted that the competition would provide a valuable opportunity to evaluate their training and fitness levels, noting the strong international field. Ancy echoed this sentiment, stating that participating in the meet would help them identify areas for improvement.

Lalit Bhanot, chairman of the Athletics Federation of India Planning Commission, mentioned the goal of maximizing exposure for Indian athletes, while Odisha Sports Minister Suryabanshi Suraj noted that the experience gained from organizing this event would be beneficial for future championships.
