Indian Pilgrims Missing After Flash Floods Near Tibet

Sudipto Bhattacharya has not heard from his wife, Subhrasree Chakraborty, since she sent her last messages on Wednesday morning while preparing to cross into Tibet. The couple was in contact as she traveled with a group for a pilgrimage to Mount Kailash, a site sacred to Hindus.

Subhrasree, along with at least 290 other Indians, is among those reported missing following deadly flash floods that occurred near the Nepal-Tibet border. She had been eagerly anticipating this journey for years and had successfully completed immigration procedures in Nepal before her messages ceased.

Her husband is left with uncertainty, having received no updates since the floods. The situation is similarly dire for Rina Banerjee, another pilgrim, whose family is also awaiting news. Both women are listed among 537 missing individuals by the Nepal government, with their families desperate for information about their whereabouts.
