India's Asian Games 2026 Contingent Grows to 768 with Surfing Inclusion
India's official team for the upcoming Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games has been expanded to 768 members, following the inclusion of surfing as the 36th sport. The Games are scheduled to take place in Japan from September 19 to October 4.
The sports ministry's recent approval has increased the number of athletes from 492 to 503, comprising 269 men and 234 women. Surfing will feature four athletes: Kishore Kumar Anbarashu and Sivaraj Babu in men's shortboard, alongside Kamali Prakash and Sugar Shanti Gayen in women's shortboard.
Additionally, the athletics team has grown from 73 to 79 athletes, with six new additions, while mixed martial arts now includes two competitors. The overall contingent also consists of 265 officials, including coaches, medical personnel, and support staff, ensuring adequate female representation among the support team.
