India's Flag-Bearers at Asian Para Games Opening Ceremony
The opening ceremony of the 2026 Asian Para Games is set to take place in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, on Sunday, marking a significant event for para-sport in Asia. For the first time, all 45 nations will participate, showcasing the unity and strength of the Paralympic movement across the continent.
India's contingent will be led by flag-bearers Pramod Bhagat and Simran Sharma. The decision to select them was made to allow Bhavina Patel to focus on her recovery ahead of her quarterfinal match on October 19, as the travel to the ceremony venue would take nearly six hours.
With a strong emphasis on athlete welfare, the Indian team aims for a notable medal tally, particularly in para-athletics and para-badminton. The opening ceremony marks the beginning of a competitive event where para-athletes will demonstrate their skills and determination.
