The Indian Para Asian Games team was formally sent off in New Delhi ahead of the upcoming Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan. Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya unveiled the new Team India jersey during the ceremony organized by the Paralympic Committee of India.
Prominent para-athletes, including Paralympic medallists and other competitors, attended the event. Pramod Bhagat, a para-badminton star, was designated as the flag bearer for the contingent. Mandaviya praised the athletes for their resilience and encouraged them to focus on winning medals.
Head coach Satyanarayana expressed confidence in the team's potential, particularly in para-athletics, despite a reduction in the number of athletes allowed to compete. He noted that the selection process was rigorous and emphasized the talent of those chosen. Athlete Suvarna Raj, who had faced injury challenges, expressed optimism about securing a medal, while Bhagat aimed for gold at the Games.
