India's Sports Ministry Reviews Asian Games Performance and Future Planning
The Sports Ministry of India held a one-day meeting to evaluate the nation's performance at the recent Asian Games, focusing on accountability and future planning for major events like the 2028 Olympics and the 2030 Asian Games.
During the review, national sports federations presented analyses of their performances and discussed strategies for improvement. Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya underscored the necessity for federations to take greater responsibility and not rely solely on a few top athletes, citing the need to develop more talent akin to Mirabai Chanu.
The meeting also addressed concerns regarding injured athletes and highlighted the importance of enhancing support systems, including the involvement of sports psychologists and mental trainers. The minister reiterated that financial resources are available, and federations must focus on delivering results rather than just presentations.
