India's Test Players Perform Mixed in Ranji Trophy Opening Round
India's Test cricketers participated in the first round of the 2026-27 Ranji Trophy season, following a directive from the Board of Control for Cricket in India for available players to join their state teams. This round served as a chance for players to gain form ahead of an upcoming two-Test tour of New Zealand.
Several players struggled with the bat, including KL Rahul, who scored four runs in the first innings and one in the second for Karnataka against Andhra Pradesh. Yashasvi Jaiswal was dismissed for a duck while playing for Mumbai, although the team won by an innings. Ravindra Jadeja stood out with an all-round performance for Saurashtra, scoring 102 runs and taking three wickets against Chhattisgarh. Mohammed Siraj contributed to Hyderabad's victory over Tripura with two wickets.
Other players like Washington Sundar and Sarfaraz Khan also participated, with Sundar taking two wickets and scoring 26 runs for Tamil Nadu. The performances varied across the board, with some players missing the matches due to injury or other commitments.
