Indie Promotion Releases Statement Following Death of Andy Williams
Andy Williams, recognized in the wrestling world as 'The Butcher,' died at the age of 48 following a match for Enjoy Wrestling in Pennsylvania on September 5. After the match, Williams collapsed at ringside, hitting his head on the floor, prompting immediate medical attention from on-site doctors and the call for an ambulance.
Despite efforts that included CPR and the use of an AED, Williams' condition deteriorated, and he was later pronounced dead at the hospital. Enjoy Wrestling co-owner Kurt Hackimer reported that medical personnel indicated Williams exhibited symptoms consistent with a cardiac event, although the official cause of death will be determined after an autopsy.
Williams had participated in a seminar for Enjoy Wrestling just days prior and was part of a tag team known as Butcher & Blade. The promotion is set to close after its upcoming event on October 4, following a five-year run. The Blade, who was both Williams' partner and friend, expressed his grief over the loss, as did Allie, who managed their team.
