IndyCar Makes Historic Debut in Washington D.C. with Freedom 250 Grand Prix

This weekend, the IndyCar series will make its inaugural appearance in Washington D.C. with the Freedom 250 Grand Prix, part of the 2026 season.

The race will take place on a 1.7-mile street course that includes seven corners and will consist of 147 laps. The course will pass notable landmarks such as the National Archives, National Gallery of Art, and the Smithsonian Institution’s National Air and Space Museum.

Alex Palou currently leads the championship standings, holding a 133-point advantage over Kyle Kirkwood. Additionally, IROC will participate as a support series during this event, as there will be no Indy NXT races scheduled.
