INDYCAR Prepares for Unique Challenge in Washington, D.C.
INDYCAR drivers are gearing up for a race in Washington, D.C., after competing in Markham, Ontario. The upcoming event features a 1.7-mile circuit characterized by mostly 90-degree turns, contrasting with the 2.1-mile course in Markham that included a mix of turns and hairpins.
The Washington race, known as the 'Freedom 250,' will cover 250 miles, significantly longer than the 189 miles raced in Markham. Drivers such as David Malukas, Felix Rosenqvist, and Alex Palou are expected to participate, with Palou currently leading the championship standings.
Palou's lead has increased to 133 points following a crash involving competitor Kyle Kirkwood. If Palou can extend his lead to 162 points after the D.C. race, he would secure the championship title. The race weekend will follow a two-day schedule, with practices and qualifying set for Saturday, ensuring minimal disruption in the capital.
