INDYCAR Prepares for Upcoming Races in Markham and Washington D.C.

INDYCAR drivers are set to face unique challenges as they prepare for two consecutive races on new street circuits in Markham, Ontario, and Washington D.C. The first race will take place this weekend on a 2.19-mile course in Markham, which features 12 turns and has recently been repaved.

Following the Markham race, the series will move to Washington D.C. for a race around the National Mall on a 1.7-mile, seven-turn course. This event coincides with the celebration of the 250th anniversary of the United States. Drivers have expressed concerns about the unfamiliarity of the tracks, with some opting not to use simulators for preparation due to their limitations in accurately representing the new circuits.

The transition to these new locations comes after the previous race venue in Toronto faced logistical challenges. The Markham race is now part of a long-term agreement, while the D.C. race was added to the schedule following a recent executive order. Preparations for both events are underway, with teams working to finalize track setups and safety measures.
