IndyCar President Criticizes Delays in Markham Circuit Construction
Delays in completing the Streets of Markham circuit have affected the inaugural Ontario Honda Dealers Indy, leading to criticism from IndyCar president J. Douglas Boles towards event promoter Green Savoree Racing Promotions.
Boles publicly apologized to fans present at the event, expressing disappointment that the promoter could not finish the track on schedule, despite support from the IndyCar team. He acknowledged the logistical challenges new events can face and thanked the city of Markham for its assistance in creating a promising racing layout.
As Green Savoree Racing Promotions continues to finalize the circuit, IndyCar has adjusted Saturday's schedule to include two practice sessions and qualifying. The qualifying will follow a traditional knockout format, and broadcast plans for the feature race on Sunday remain unchanged, starting at 12:00 p.m. ET.
