IndyCar to Omit Nashville and D.C. from 2027 Schedule, Barcelona Event Confirmed
The IndyCar Series is making significant changes to its 2027 calendar, as it will not return to the Nashville Superspeedway or hold a second Freedom 250 Grand Prix in Washington, D.C. The series has raced at the Nashville venue since 2024, following a successful three-year run in downtown Nashville.
The decision to move to the superspeedway was initially a temporary solution due to construction around the Tennessee Titans' new stadium, which limited space for team operations and fan activities. Although there were hopes for a return to the downtown layout, IndyCar will not have a presence in Tennessee for the 2027 season.
In contrast to the domestic changes, IndyCar is expanding internationally with a confirmed multi-year agreement to race at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya starting in July 2027. This event will mark a significant addition to the series, coinciding with the home country of champion Alex Palou. An official announcement is anticipated soon, along with the rest of the 2027 schedule.
