Injury Update on Raiders RB Ashton Jeanty Raises Concerns
Ashton Jeanty, a second-year running back for the Las Vegas Raiders, sustained an ankle injury during practice on Sunday.
Late Sunday night, reports from ESPN's Adam Schefter and NFL Network's Ian Rapoport indicated that Jeanty is believed to have sprained his ankle. The Raiders are currently uncertain about the duration of his absence, although it is not expected to be a long-term issue. The team declined to comment further.
Jeanty was injured while attempting to catch a pass from quarterback Kirk Cousins. Following the injury, rookie Mike Washington Jr. took over first-team reps. Jeanty, selected sixth overall in the 2025 NFL Draft, had a productive rookie season, finishing with 1,321 yards from scrimmage. The Raiders aim to establish a strong running game under new head coach Klint Kubiak, making Jeanty's potential absence significant as they prepare for their Week 1 matchup against the Miami Dolphins on September 13.
