Inquest Begins for Man Who Died Following Police Arrest
An inquest has started regarding the death of David Brown, a 41-year-old man who passed away on August 21, 2024, after being arrested by police in Liverpool.
Brown collapsed at his partner's residence after being released from St Anne's Street police station. During the inquest at Wirral Coroners Court, it was revealed that Brown's partner informed paramedics he had ingested multiple bags of cocaine. The police had initially stopped a taxi he was in on Priory Road, suspecting he was in possession of drugs, but nothing was found during a search.
Despite attempts to resuscitate him for an hour at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital, he was declared dead. A pathologist reported finding a cocaine wrap in Brown's oesophagus and noted a high level of cocaine in his bloodstream. The cause of death was determined to be cocaine toxicity, with no signs of violence found on his body. Brown's niece described him as a loving father and a vibrant individual, expressing the profound impact of his loss on his family.
