Inter Miami Falls to New York Red Bulls Without Messi
Inter Miami faced a 2-0 loss against the New York Red Bulls, with Lionel Messi not starting due to a busy travel schedule. Messi, who recently traveled to Spain to receive the Princess of Asturias Award for Sports, was substituted in at the beginning of the second half.
The match saw Miami fall behind early due to an own goal by Casemiro, a former Manchester United player. Emil Forsberg secured the victory for New York with a goal in the final minute, leaving Miami in third place and New York in ninth in the Eastern Conference.
Miami's coach, Kily González, explained that the decision to rest Messi was made to prevent potential injuries, considering the travel fatigue and time zone changes he experienced. Messi remains the top scorer in Major League Soccer this season with 25 goals.
