IOA Clarifies Accommodation Rules for BCCI at Asian Games

The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) has made it clear that if the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) opts for alternative accommodation outside the designated Asian Games hotels in Aichi-Nagoya, it will be fully responsible for all logistics, including accommodation, food, and transport for its players.

IOA CEO Raghuram Iyer emphasized that the BCCI is free to make its own arrangements if the official hotels do not meet its needs, but the logistical responsibility will rest solely with the BCCI. The IOA aims to ensure equal treatment for all athletes across the 36 sports represented at the Games.

Currently, the Games organizers have assigned the Indian men's team to the APA Hotel Nagoya Ekimae and the women's team to the Meitetsu Grand Hotel. Both hotels offer amenities that are below the five-star standard typically expected by Indian cricketers. The BCCI is sending an advance team to Japan to evaluate the facilities before making a final decision on accommodation.
