
IOA to Hold Elections on December 5, P.T. Usha Highlights Governance Goals
The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) has announced that its Executive Council elections will take place on December 5, 2026, just before the current committee's term concludes. Sanjay Kumar Srivastava has been designated as the Returning Officer to oversee the electoral process.
The elections will adhere to the National Sports Governance Act, 2025, and related regulations. Srivastava, a former Chief Election Commissioner of Delhi and Chandigarh, will supervise elections for the Athletes’ Commission, the Sportspersons of Outstanding Merit category, and the IOA Executive Council.
The nomination process for athlete representatives is underway, with eligible National Sports Federation members required to submit nominations by October 11. P.T. Usha, the IOA president, emphasized that these elections represent a significant step towards enhancing governance and accountability within the Indian Olympic Movement.
